Induction Project One
This project focused on increasing my transitional kindergarten students’ mastery of letter sounds and formation through the use of engaging, multi-sensory strategies such as song, movement, and total physical response (TPR). By incorporating music and physical actions into daily literacy routines, I aimed to increase student engagement, retention, and confidence, as well as provide multiple opportunities for students to connect to the content. The evidence linked below includes assessment data, observational notes, and student assessments that highlight the impact of these strategies on student growth and demonstrate the effectiveness of aligning instructional strategies, such as movement and song, with learning needs.
This image shows one of my students leading the class in our daily phonics routine, using a pointer to indicate each letter while singing to the tune of “A is for apple, /a/ /a/ apple…"
